Karen Vázquez Guadarrama was born in Mexico City but ended up in Ghent after spending a year in France for a cultural exchange. Her films are a search for a simplified form of narrative where she explores seemingly insignificant events of daily life, with great attention to emotions and small details. Because, the little things… There is nothing bigger, is there? In 2015 Karen won with “Flor de Mil Colores” the award for Best Belgian Student Short at the Ghent Film Festival, the VAF-Wildcard (Flanders Audiovisual Fund) in Louvain and at the beginning of 2016 she crossed the ocean to showcase her documentary at Sundance Film Festival. Karen is currently working on her first feature documentary.
