Biography

Wannes Destoop is a film director celebrated for his gentle, authentic storytelling. After winning the Jury Prize at Cannes for his short Swimsuit 46, he built his reputation as a rising star in the film industry. His first TV series, Albatros, follows a group of people on a weight-loss retreat in Wallonia, showcasing his gift for creating relatable, emotionally resonant characters and his fearless approach to complex themes.

In 2024, Wannes makes his feature-film directorial debut with Holy Rosita, which premiered as the opening-night film at the Ostend Film Festival. The film went on to win the Best Film Award at the prestigious Torino Film Festival, along with five Ensors. That same year, he also directed Ferry 2 for Netflix.
